Delayed Apple TV series ‘The Savant’ may finally air next year

If you cast your mind back to almost a year ago from today, Apple TV was about to launch a new series called The Savant starring Jessica Chastain … until it was pulled from the schedule at the last moment, in the wake of the assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk.

Apple never gave an exact reason for cancelling the release, but promised it would release the series at a later date …

At the time, star Jessica Chastain made a statement to say that she was ‘not aligned’ with Apple’s decision to postpone the show’s premiere.

Nevertheless, here we are a year later, and The Savant has still not come out. In fact, if you look up the series in the Apple TV app, the page still reads “coming at a later date” and has an awkwardly outdated ‘2025’ year label.

However, Variety reports today that the streamer has finally put the series back on its slate, with a release date scheduled for spring 2027.

The spring launch would aim to put the series in prime contention for the next Emmy awards season, which means Apple would want to get all episodes aired sometime before the cutoff date of May 31, 2027.

Of course, Apple could decide to once again delay the release when we get closer to springtime. Whatever Chastain’s thoughts are on how The Savant has been handled, the actress has continued to work with Apple on other upcoming projects, including starring in ‘The Dealer’ with Adam Driver, and alongside Ben Stiller in ‘The Off Weeks’.
