Galaxy S26 Ultra Privacy Display coming to other Android flagships

The biggest feature being announced on the Galaxy S26 Ultra this year is Samsung’s new Privacy Display, and it looks pretty great in early leaks. And, apparently, other Android flagships will adopt the same tech as soon as later this year.

The Privacy Display on the Galaxy S26 Ultra is a type of Samsung display technology that was first revealed in 2024, with Samsung explaining at the time that it could “[adjust] the viewing angle of the screen so that it is not visible to the person next to it.” Leaker Ice Universe says it works by scattering light through “gates” when voltage is applied to parts of the panel.

Recent leaks have shown what it looks like in action:

It sounds like a really cool idea, and apparently other Android brands agree.

Another well-known and reliable leaker, Digital Chat Station, claims that other Android manufacturers will apply similar display tech to their own flagship devices as soon as September of this year, with a “hardware level” privacy screen that sounds just like the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s Privacy Display. Based on the timing and the mention of this being for “domestic” (China-based) smartphone brands, it seems like that Xiaomi will be the first in line, but other brands such as Honor or Oppo (OnePlus) could also be the ones the leaker is referring to.
