Nvidia is instantly doubling Steam library support on GeForce Now with its new Install-to-Play feature
With the next wave of titles, there will be a total of “more than 2,300 games” available through GeForce Now, says Nvidia, and the cloud streaming service is getting a major upgrade this September. First of all, it’s moving on up from RTX 4080 to RTX 5080-level performance for Ultimate members, and another interesting feature that caught our attention is ‘Install-to-Play’.
With Install-to-Play, Steam games are downloaded to cloud storage, which allows for “local-like” performance thanks to high-speed NVMesh storage. You’ll also be glad to know that these games remain easily accessible and ready to play without the need to reinstall them every session.
Install-to-Play is coming to GeForce Now
“GeForce NOW’s library will expand to over 4,500 Ready-to-Play and Install-to-Play titles,” says Nvidia in its press release, thanks to the addition of “over 2,200 additional Steam titles that publishers have enabled for cloud streaming on GeForce NOW,” including AAA and indie titles. Install-to-Play also streamlines the process for developers by letting them opt into support without the need for Steam Cloud.
This will help GFN members check out more of the latest games and demos; Nvidia specifically mentioned to us the prior struggle to support the long lists of demos you’ll find during Next Fests on Steam in a pre-brief meeting last week.

Install-to-Play gives paid GFN users (Ultimate and Performance members) 100GB of single-session cloud storage for any games downloaded to cloud storage; additional storage is purchasable as an add-on:
- 200GB for $2.99 per month
- 500GB for $4.99 per month
- 1TB for $7.99 per month
The new GeForce Now upgrade will be rolling out in September. Many more features are coming to the service, including Discord integration (starting with Fortnite), a new ‘Cinematic Quality’ streaming mode, and upgraded FPS for handheld users on the Steam Deck and Lenovo Legion Go S.
Borderlands 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and The Outer Worlds 2 are a few of the latest AAA games joining GeForce Now. Speaking of Borderlands 4, Nvidia advertises 6x the FPS with DLSS 4 support – which will be available for gamers playing over the cloud once the RTX 5080 upgrade rolls out.
