Steam Replay 2025 is now live, and the data paints a clear picture of how PC gamers actually spend their time. Despite a steady flow of new releases, most players continue to invest their hours in older, familiar games rather than chasing the latest launches.

According to Steam Replay 2025 statistics shared via TweakTown, only around 14% of total Steam playtime in 2025 went to games released this year. That means brand-new PC games account for a surprisingly small slice of overall engagement, even with major launches throughout the year.

The majority of playtime landed elsewhere. Roughly 44% of total hours went to games released between one and seven years ago, while about 40% went to titles that launched eight or more years ago. This trend makes sense when you consider how many long-running multiplayer games fall into that older category, including competitive shooters, MOBAs, and live-service titles that still attract massive player bases.

Steam Replay 2025 also highlights how focused player habits have become. The median number of games played per user sits at just four, suggesting most players stick closely to a small rotation of favorites instead of constantly jumping between new releases. PC gamers appear far more likely to replay trusted titles than experiment with unfamiliar ones.

Overall, the data reinforces a long-standing trend on PC: longevity matters more than novelty. Developers that support games over many years continue to benefit, while new releases face a tough battle for attention in an ecosystem dominated by established hits.
