Stardew Valley was the most played Steam Deck game of 2025
As 2025 comes to an end, Valve’s Steam Deck Top Played charts have revealed what players spent most of their time playing over the past year. The chart that covers the period from January 1 to December 1, 2025, shows that Stardew Valley was the most-played game on Steam Deck in 2025. For a title that launched nearly a decade ago, this is an impressive achievement.
Stardew Valley was originally released in February 2016, yet it continues to attract new players while keeping longtime fans hooked. What’s interesting is that it currently has over 370,000 user reviews on Steam, with 98% marked as positive. Very few games maintain such a high rating over so many years.

At its core, Stardew Valley is about starting fresh. Players inherit their grandfather’s old farm and begin with basic tools and limited money. From there, the game slowly opens up. You clear land, grow crops, raise animals, and build a farm that fits your playstyle.
Farming is only one part of the experience. As players continue, they can improve skills across five different areas: farming, mining, combat, fishing, and foraging. Each skill unlocks new crafting and cooking recipes, new equipment, and even new locations to explore.
The world of Stardew Valley also feels alive thanks to its strong focus on community. The town is home to more than 30 unique characters, each with their own daily routines, birthdays, and personal stories. Building friendships unlocks new dialogue and cutscenes, and seasonal festivals add variety throughout the year. Players can also restore the town’s community center or take an alternate path by siding with Joja Corporation.

Exploration plays a big role as well. The mines offer dangerous enemies, rare materials, and hidden secrets as players dig deeper underground. Fishing provides a relaxing break, with different fish available depending on the season and location. For those who prefer shared experiences, the game supports up to eight players in online co-op, allowing friends to run a farm together.
The good news is that if you haven’t tried the game yet, it’s currently available with a massive 40% discount on Steam. Thanks to it, you can grab it for $8.99 instead of $14.99. However, do keep in mind that the discount is live until January 5, so make sure to grab it before that.
