This Borderlands 4 mod lets you skip dialogue, but a Gearbox dev warns it might break missions
The Borderlands 4 modding community has been active following the game’s launch last month. There are well over 100 mods available to download online. From improving performance to adding fun new features, players are finding creative ways to make the game even better.
One of the newest mods to grab attention is called Dialog Skipper, a simple but useful mod that lets players skip in-game conversations between characters. However, while it may sound convenient, it can also break missions.
Dialog skipper can skip or speed up dialogue
The Dialog Skipper mod was created by RedxYeto and uploaded to Nexus Mods just yesterday. Despite being so new, it has already surpassed 800 downloads, so it has clearly tapped into a common annoyance for some players. The mod allows users to bypass long dialogue sequences and jump straight into the action, something that speedrunners and players replaying missions have been asking for.
However, Borderlands 4’s creative director, Graeme Timmins, has advised caution. In response to a user on X who mentioned the mod, Timmins explained that skipping dialogue isn’t as simple as it sounds. He warned that doing so could cause missions to break or get stuck, making them impossible to complete or recover.

This makes sense when you consider how Borderlands games are designed. Dialogue isn’t just there for storytelling, as it often triggers mission events, spawns enemies, or updates objectives. If a player skips too quickly through key lines, the game might not register certain actions or properly load the next part of a quest.
Borderlands 4, like previous games, includes long stretches of character conversations that some players prefer to avoid after multiple playthroughs. For now, though, players using the Dialog Skipper mod should proceed carefully. While it might save time, it could also mean getting stuck mid-mission. Until Gearbox adds an official dialogue-skip option, this mod remains useful but risky.
