The PCSpecialist Momentum Pro Uses DDR4 To Lower The Price

It’s no fun pricing out a new PC right now; so bad we can almost look fondly back to the days of crypto jacking GPU prices up … almost.  In order to try to move some stock and to entice those who really need a new PC many system builders are mixing in older tech with new in their recent offerings.  PCSpecialist has done this with their Momentum Pro system, and you will see similar mixes of components from other system builders.

The Momentum Pro features an ASUS PRIME A520M-A II/CSM paired with a Ryzen 7 5700X.  This means DDR4 will work and they included 16GB of DDR4-3200 which you could increase if you win the lottery.  The board is also from the PCIe 3.0 era, so a 1TB TLC PCIe 3.0 SSD is installed which helps control the price somewhat.  The GPU is modern however, and an RX 9060 XT is not going to care that it’s running at PCI3 3.0 as opposed to PCIe 4.0.

This gives the Momentum Pro solid performance for 1440p gaming and the overall build quality is top notch.  KitGuru does provide a few caveats about the Momentum Pro you should consider; the motherboard does not support PBO for tweaking the Ryzen 7 5700X, the included WiFi dongle is about as useful as a USB drive with out of date drivers on it and there is some bloatware you really want to get rid of.   The price is not horrific though.
