Winhanced is a fan-made application all about making Windows more lightweight for gaming, delivering a console-like experience akin to Valve’s SteamOS, which you’ll be familiar with if you’ve ever used a Steam Deck. We’ve been following Winhanced for some time now, well before Microsoft unveiled the Xbox Full Screen Experience (FSE) for handhelds, aiming to do the very same thing and improve performance by cutting back unwanted resources.

Winhanced v0.9.2.1 brings some interesting additions to the software. One new feature is AutoPilot Smart Profiles, which gives users an easy way to switch between preset profiles: Auto, Performance, and Quality. Aside from that, the feature that caught our eye is “RAM-based Quick Resume,” which lets you run (and switch between) three games at once.

Winhanced’s January 2026 update has arrived

Full patch notes for version 0.9.2.1 are available on the Winhanced website, which also include a healthy list of bug fixes. It also adds detection for the Legion Go 2, which Lenovo released in late 2025.

We are also introducing RAM-based Quick Resume. You can now run and suspend multiple games at once (up to 3), switching between them instantly without reloading. It handles RAM management in the background to keep the system stable while you jump between titles.

The RAM-based quick resume feature allows you to suspend games in the background, giving you the chance to quickly switch between titles without reloading them entirely. We don’t imagine too many people will be playing multiple games at the same time, but it’s an interesting feature that does have some use cases, and something we wouldn’t previously think was feasible on the handheld form factor. There’s also a regular Quick Resume feature that keeps track of your sessions and lets you continue where you left off last. With v0.9.2.1, this is now compatible with any storefront.

“Major fixes for Sleep/Wake freezing and memory leaks” are also welcomed as another stability measure in the January 2026 update. Version 0.9.2.1 is currently exclusive to Patreon and Discord supporters; there is currently no announced date for its public release. The latest public version is build 0.9.1.2.
