What made the Arris WiFi 6E mesh system stand out for us

There is a lot to unpack with this mesh system. For the price, this is a steal. The two devices, one router and one satellite, offer a coverage of up to 5,500 sq ft, which is perfect for large homes and working spaces. It also has WiFi speeds of up to 6.6Gbps, but depending on your location and the number of obstacles between you and the router, the signal strength and speed can vary.

We also test routers in-house, so you can check that out for a more in-depth understanding. That being said, the 6.6Gbps speed is an upper limit to showcase that this router can handle any high-speed internet connection wirelessly. For a wired connection, there are two ports, a 1G and 2.5G Ethernet.

You can use an Ethernet to connect the router and satellite, or connect them wirelessly, as it has a 4.8Gbps backhaul. What that means is that between the two routers, that is the maximum speed you can get, which is more than enough. The tri-band feature is also great for splitting networks for guests, personal use, and IoT.

The 2.4GHz is great for IoT as it has the maximum range but lowest speed, 5GHz and 6GHz have shorter ranges, aren’t prone to electromagnetic interference, and offer better speeds, making them better for streaming, working, and gaming. You can also control various aspects of this router, such as firmware updates, security, and other settings, via the Surfboard Central App.

Is this deal worth it?

We think this deal is 100% worth it because you’re getting a robust mesh system with a budget price tag. This system offers exceptional speeds for wired and wireless operations, great coverage, tri-band capabilities, and much more. There is nothing that we didn’t like about this deal. This is an excellent option to eliminate dead zones, and going by its specifications, it should be one of the best mesh routers on the market.

However, the performance can vary depending on the band you’re using, your internet connection, and how many obstacles there are between the router and you. If you’re at the far end of coverage with two or four walls between you, the signals might not reach properly, and even if they do, the speed won’t be great. So, these are some aspects you’ll need to look out for regardless of the router you get.
