Nvidia has announced a major change to GeForce NOW, and many members are not happy about it. The company confirmed that it will place a monthly playtime limit on most users, a decision that has left many members disappointed, especially long-time and loyal subscribers.
GeForce NOW is known for letting players stream PC games without owning expensive hardware. For years, unlimited playtime was one of its biggest selling points, but that is now changing, as Nvidia has confirmed that GeForce NOW will be capped at 100 hours of playtime per month for most users. This change will fully take effect starting January 1, 2026.
The limit itself was first announced back in November 2024. At that time, it only applied to new subscribers. Existing users were not affected, which helped reduce backlash. Now, Nvidia has confirmed that the same rule will apply to older users as well.
A Reddit user has even shared a chart comparing the cost of GeForce NOW with buying a gaming PC or a console. The chart shows that once extra fees are added, cloud gaming is no longer the cheap option it once was for heavy users.
The 100-hour limit can only be avoided if you have a Founders Edition subscription. This is a special plan that was available when GeForce NOW first launched. Founders Edition users get unlimited playtime and other perks. However, Nvidia stopped new sign-ups for this plan about a year after launch, but existing users were allowed to keep it.

All other users will have to pay extra if they go past the 100-hour cap. From January 1, 2026, Performance tier users will pay $2.99 for every extra 15 hours. Ultimate tier users will pay $5.99 for every extra 15 hours. These costs can add up quickly for active players.
To be fair, 100 hours a month will be enough for many people. It translates to around three hours per day, without breaks, which sounds fine. However, for players who game more on weekends or do longer sessions every day, this limit may cause issues for them.
