Nvidia CEO says AI won’t take your job, but someone using AI will, especially if “the world runs out of ideas”
In a recent interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said that “everybody’s jobs will be affected” as the use of AI is more widely adopted. However, he notes that job losses can be linked to a lack of creativity. “If the world runs out of ideas, then productivity gains translates to job loss,” said the Nvidia boss, in response to comments from Dario Amodei, who suggested AI will cause mass disruption.
It’s no secret that Nvidia has benefited massively from the AI boom. The fast-moving industry has catapulted the company to one of the biggest in the world, and Jensen Huang is seemingly always talking about AI. Even though he says they still love GeForce, it’s clear that artificial intelligence is Team Green’s biggest priority – and money maker.

This isn’t the first time the Nvidia CEO has talked about the issue of AI automation disrupting jobs. An interview with CNBC over a month ago he claimed that it’s not likely you’ll lose your job to AI, just someone who is using it. This quote has surfaced again online following the more recent comments and has split opinion.
Huang is clearly not denying the fact that AI is changing the job market, and is essentially urging people to embrace it. It seems that most occupations will feel the impact of artifcial intelligence in one way or another, with a 2024 study from Adecco Group revealing that 41% of corporate leaders expect to employ fewer people within the next five years as a result of AI.
Huang’s comments on innovation – assuming the world isn’t running out of ideas – suggest to us that he hopes AI to open up enough new roles to help cover the loss of jobs. He says that “AI is the great equalizer” and will only help people become better informed their field of expertise, as well as others.
