One of the best Steam Deck games just got a major update in time for Steam’s Halloween sale
A major update has just been released for Brotato. The popular indie title comes from solo developer Thomas Gervraud, under the studio name Blobfish, and it’s safe to say that this is one of the best games for Steam Deck if you’re looking for something light to play on the go, in bed, or anywhere else you like.
This time last year, Brotato sat as the fifth-most played game on Steam Deck. It also got a discount in 2024’s Steam Scream Fest (otherwise known as the Halloween sale), and it’s already 40% off this year, too. Even though the game has trickled down the top-played charts, it still enjoys a healthy playerbase, and much of that comes from Steam Deck players.
Brotato gets a major update and 40% off during Steam Scream Fest
The ‘New Dawn Update’ is now live, as of October 27 – the same day as Steam’s Halloween Sale. Six new items and one new weapon have been added to the game, among many quality-of-life changes, such as save profiles. Full patch notes are as follows:

Although it is largely focused on quality-of-life improvements, the developer said they wanted the patch to “have a little bit of meat on it” – in other words, some fresh content.
