The annual Made by Google event has been officially announced for August 12, kicking off at 6 PM Eastern Time (in New York City for the second year running). It will set the stage for “the next generation of Pixel,” according to invites sent out to the media yesterday. The new Google Pixel Watch 5 is likely to make an appearance, alongside the Google Pixel 11 series.

The event itself is official, but none of the hardware is just yet. However, fresh leaks from a reliable source provide us with some key specifications, along with the series’ pricing in the United States, United Kingdom, and Europe. Much like we saw in recent Pixel 11 smartphone leaks, the new Pixel Watch is expected to launch with a price hike for some configurations.

What do we know about the Google Pixel Watch 5?

According to a well-known and reliable leaker by the name of billbil-kun, reporting for French outlet Dealabs, the Pixel Watch 5 will be announced during the Made by Google event on August 12, while the device itself will be widely available to purchase on August 20 – the same day as the new Pixel 11 smartphones. The leaker says pre-orders go live on the 13th.

Four unique configurations have been identified, split between the 41mm and 45mm watch sizes. In comparison to the Pixel Watch 4, the new Watch 5 model is up to $50 more expensive. Similar price increases can be seen in the UK and Europe for the 41mm models, though interestingly there is no hike for the larger 45mm variant in these two regions.

Model Connectivity Price (USD) Price (GBP) Price (EUR)
Pixel Watch 5 (41mm) Bluetooth/Wi-Fi $399 £369 €419
Pixel Watch 5 (41mm) 4G LTE $499 £469 €519
Pixel Watch 5 (45mm) Bluetooth/Wi-Fi $429 £399 €449
Pixel Watch 5 (45mm) 4G LTE $529 £499 €549

There had been prior reports suggesting the end of Wi-Fi/Bluetooth-only models. This was based on discoveries in FCC certifications that pointed towards all models shipping with support for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and LTE all within the same device, but this is now not expected to be the case, keeping in line with previous generations.

Another bizarre turn of events came from Gearbox Software’s Randy Pitchford, who says a friend found an early version of the Google Pixel Watch 5 while scuba diving. A failed waterproofing test? We don’t know, but we can say that the device looks incredibly similar to the Pixel Watch 4, with a 3D-domed glass design.

The discovery above appears to feature the ‘Natural Silver’ colorway

Lastly, the leak revealed the list of colorways that the Google Pixel Watch 5 will be available in, noting that a gold colorway would only be available for the smaller 41mm model. It claims the new ‘Pyrite’ color is tinted green. Dutch publication NieuweMobiel.NL also posted an exclusive look at the colors, along with a mock-up diagram for comparison (see below).
