QD-OLED display
So not every QD-OLED monitor is the same, as it often comes down to peak brightness where there’s the most variation. A good thing to look out for is a decent VESA DisplayHDR True Black certification, which in this case, this monitor has. With a DisplayHDR 400 True Black certification, you’re getting something that can hit at least 400 nits of peak brightness, which is good for highlights and also means that general brightness is likely to be quite high, too. It’s also earned this rating as it has a very broad color range, coming in at 99% DCI-P3, which means colors look super lifelike and accurate. On top of that, it has a very impressive 1500000:1 contrast ratio, which is more than many more affordable QD-OLED monitors, and means you’re getting super inky blacks, for incredible, realistic picture quality.
4K and 32 inches
For me, this is the sweet spot for 4K resolution, as any smaller, and I’d say you’re better off just going for a 1440p display instead, which looks crisp and clear at 27 inches in many cases. This size screen is ideal if you’re looking to up the immersion in your gaming sessions, but it’s also not too big that it takes a ton of room. For working, especially in graphic design and video editing, you’ve got loads of space for multiple windows, which is great for more efficient workflows.
240Hz and 0.03ms response time
You’ve got a very high refresh rate here and extremely low response time, both of which are ideal for fast-paced gaming and ensuring everything looks super smooth on screen, with minimal motion blur and ghosting. It also features the exclusive ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur technology, which further reduces these.
Burn-in protection
Since OLED monitors are often at risk of burn-in, due to general excess heat build-up or more localized hot spots from static images, like logos or taskbars, it’s important to have a few features to prevent this from happening. With this monitor, you’ve got a large custom heatsink, vents, and graphene film to help reduce operation temperature and dissipate heat. In addition to this, there’s the ASUS OLED Care software, which puts you in control and makes it super easy to take care of your monitor with loads of features designed to keep it working at its best, from pixel cleaning, taskbar detection, screensavers, and more.
Things to consider
It’s always worth considering whether an OLED monitor is going to be right for you, as they can be a little on the dim side, even with VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black certifications, as the 400 indicates a minimum peak brightness of 400 nits, which is not typical brightness across the monitor itself, but rather in a smaller area. Personally, I think this isn’t a big deal if you’re using it in lower light environments, but for bright rooms, it’s not ideal. I’d say if that sounds like you, you’re going to benefit more from a mini-LED monitor instead, which is notably brighter. This one from Innocn is quite impressive for the price, and has a VESA Display HDR 1000 rating, making it a good alternative for brighter rooms.
