Steam Frame prescription lenses now available from multiple retailers, you can’t buy them directly from Valve

It hasn’t taken long for prescription lenses for the Steam Frame to arrive from third-party retailers. They’re not directly available from the Steam Store (despite Valve originally planning to offer them “ahead of launch”), but brands such as Zenni have been assigned as authorized providers, and it’s now selling “single vision prescription inserts” for $67.95 on its online store.

Valve has previously said that “a bunch of people” from its team have been using the Steam Frame while wearing glasses “without issue”. Either way, you can expect prescription lenses to provide a more comfortable experience. In its announcement post, Zenni says its inserts “snap directly into the Valve Steam Frame” and will “stay comfortable through long sessions”.

Where can you buy prescription lenses for the Steam Frame?

We should note that various retailers have started selling (or plan to start selling) prescription lenses for Valve’s new VR headset, though it appears that only Zenni is an official partner at this stage. You can see some of the various options below if you’re open to shopping around. We still don’t know the pricing details for VR Optician, but it plans to “start shipping in two weeks”.
