It feels like Valve is finally ready to launch the Steam Frame today, with September 14th being one of the rumored dates backed up by multiple leakers and dataminers. Furthermore, Valve is expected to kick off its Steam VR Sale this week, taking place between the 14th and the 21st of the month, making it a perfect time to launch its new VR headset.

Most recently, well-known contributor Brad Lynch revealed a potential September 17 date for when Steam Frame reservation invites go live, suggesting there will be an announcement today (based on the Steam Machine’s three-day wait between reservations opening up and emails being sent out, using a randomized system in an attempt to deter bots & scalpers).

Steam Frame may launch at the same time as the Steam VR Sale

A few weeks back, developers were invited to take part in the upcoming Steam VR Sale Fall 2026. According to the invitation shared online, the event will be kicking off today – so what better time for the Steam Frame to make an appearance? Nothing has been officially confirmed regarding the Frame’s launch just yet, but there are suggestions it will arrive later today.

An unofficial source of Steam Hardware news on X suggests the Steam Frame will launch at 10 AM Pacific Time. This is the typical time Valve launches new hardware and kicks off its wide range of Steam sales, so no surprises there. As such, the Frame could be officially launched at the same time the VR sale begins.

So here’s the rumored timeline: Valve will announce Steam Frame reservations at 10 AM PT today (September 14) and will kick off the Steam VR Sale at the same time. Based on the Steam Machine launch, Valve will allow customers to immediately sign up for its pre-order reservation program. Then, reservation emails will be sent out on September 17, and those lucky enough to receive one will be able to place their Steam Frame order. All we can do now is wait for Valve’s next move.
