“The lifeblood of VR gaming”, Fallout London VR mod gets high praise from YouTuber
At the end of May, Asciim0v released the Fallout London VR mod. Putting another mod on top of the huge overhaul mod to let you experience it from a new perspective. Now, if you’re curious about how it looks, YouTuber Headset-VR has released a video on the mod showcasing the gameplay and their thoughts on it.
There, they praise the modders of both mods for just how great of a job they did to get them running for Fallout 4. Headset-VR also calls modders the “lifeblood of VR gaming”; bringing this sort of experience to virtual reality is no mean feat, and the content they provide, for free no less, is incredible.
Watching the gameplay and commentary, you can see how intuitive and immersive the game is. With the physicality you go through to swing your weapons and fight off enemies, or getting to explore the dilapidated world, there’s a whole new perspective and way to enjoy the game.

VR modding is essential for the niche genre
There are still plenty of users enjoying VR, even if it’s not an incredibly popular way to play, comparatively. Just looking at the SteamDB charts for the genre shows this. VRChat is a game we immediately associate with VR, but it doesn’t need a headset to function, nor does War Thunder, which is number 1 in the filtered list.
OVR Advanced settings is a top VR standalone application on there at 18, and it’s not even a standalone game. Half-Life: Alyx and Beat Saber are notable games as they are number 61 and 62 with 590 and 555 players peak, respectively, in the past 24 hours. But crucially, Alyx did peak at 42,800 overall, but considering Meta Quest headsets have their own platform, Steam might not be the best number measurement for player numbers.
All of that means fleshed-out games for VR are few and far between. These mods and creators, in general, provide plenty of fun and interesting experiences when there might not be anything else to enjoy. We’ve already seen an Oblivion Remastered VR mod and a recent VR mod for Counter-Strike 1.6.
