Xbox Games Showcase & Gears of War E-Day Direct start time, countdown clock, and what to expect
It has been a busy week for anyone aiming to keep up with the latest video game announcements, and the latest livestream happening later today (June 7) is the Xbox Games Showcase. Keep in mind that the event will be directly followed by the Gears of War: E-Day Direct, so if you’re interested in GoW content, then be sure to stick around.
The Xbox Games Showcase and Gears of War: E-Day Direct combo play a crucial part in the Summer Game Fest schedule. The main SGF broadcast happened on Friday, and we already got to see PlayStation’s State of Play earlier in the week. Now it’s time to see what Xbox has to offer – we explain when and where to watch down below.
When will the Xbox Games Showcase start today?
As per Xbox’s official announcement, today’s game showcase will start on June 7 at 10 AM Pacific Time. Of course, the time will differ around the world due to time zone differences, so we’ve converted it for a bunch of regions. Alternatively, we’ve also got a countdown clock below (which will disappear as soon as the show kicks off).

- New York – 1 PM EDT
- London – 6 PM BST
- Berlin – 7 PM CEST
- Mumbai – 10:30 PM IST
- Tokyo – 2 AM JST (June 8)
- Sydney – 3 AM AEST (June 8)

What about the Gears of War E-Day Direct?
As mentioned, the Gears of War: E-Day Direct will take place immediately after the main showcase. Xbox has not provided a specific time for this, but we can expect the Xbox Games Showcase to last around 30 minutes, based on previous iterations. This means the Direct may be scheduled to start around 10:30 AM Pacific Time.
Where to watch the Xbox Games Showcase and what to expect
There will be a handful of platforms streaming the Xbox Games Showcase, including the official Xbox accounts on YouTube and Twitch – the former enjoys a full 4K 60 FPS stream. Xbox is also providing ASL coverage. A wide range of languages will be available, and US viewers will be able to watch the event via Amazon Live and Prime Video on Fire TV for the first time.
We can fully expect to see some Gears of War: E-Day gameplay. Aside from that, there’s always a level of secrecy with these events. However, that doesn’t stop leaks from getting through. According to information posted online last week, the following games will be featured in the showcase (and do keep in mind that this is an incomplete list):
- Clockwork Revolutions
- Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
- Tropico 7
- Armatus
- Witchbrook
- Fable
- There Are No Ghosts at the Grand
In addition to those, a recent official Xbox podcast possibly gave us more insight into the event. Chief Content Officer at Xbox, Matt Booty, namedropped titles such as Halo: Campaign Evolved, Minecraft Dungeons II, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Of course, Gears of War: E-Day also gets a mention. The full quote is as follows:
“Yeah, well, just even talking about portfolio, to start out, we’ve got so many games for Xbox players to play coming up. We start out with Halo: Campaign Evolved. We go to Minecraft Dungeons II. We’ve got Gears of War: E-Day. Then we go into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. And then we’ve got more after that. So it’s just, to start, a really great lineup for Xbox.”
